Create a Data Mining Dimension
If your mining model is built from an OLAP cube dimension—that is, if the mining model uses a cube as the data source—you can create a dimension that contains the content of the mining model. Then you can process the dimension and use it in your cube.
You can also browse the mining dimension in a cube browser, or use it to provide drillthrough from a mining model to the dimension data.
To create a data mining dimension
1. In SQL Server Data Tools, in Solution Explorer, expand **Mining Structures** to locate the data mining dimension that you want to create.
2. Right-click the mining structure and then select **Generate Data Mining Dimension**.
> [!NOTE]
> The **Generate Data Mining Dimension** option is not enabled if the mining structure was not built from an OLAP data source.
3. In the **Generate Data Mining Dimension** dialog box, specify the name of the new data mining dimension and the name of the cube to which the dimension will be added. Click **OK**.
4. Right-click the mining dimension, select **Process Dimension**, and verify that the new dimension is processed. You must also process the cube.
To browse a data mining dimension or related cube
1. In SQL Server Data Tools, in Solution Explorer, select the cube that contains the data mining dimension.
2. Right-click the cube, and select **Browse** to open the cube browser and explore the relationships of the dimension to measure groups in the cube.
3. In SQL Server Data Tools, in Solution Explorer, expand **Dimensions**.
4. Right-click the data mining dimension, and select **Browse** to explore the data in the dimension.
